I have done some custom work in JomSocial for one of my client.
I am describing on my Wiki page how to do it yourself. I can do it on your site as paid service, If you want to avail it.

ive read it... whats does it do anyway?
ReplyDeleteBy this you will get multiple type of profiles ....
ReplyDeleteInteresting Shyam - so you do Joomla work on the side? I'm working on a site that incorporates JomSocial as well, would you be interested in helping us create a few specific modules? For a fee of course.
ReplyDeleteHi there SV,
ReplyDeleteI was directed from jomsocial forum http://www.jomsocial.com/forum/index.php?f=6&t=1750&rb_v=viewtopic
Great job on the profile types. It could solve my headaches.
But my question remains that how do you filter student/teacher/professional in your example?
Because in my case, I would have student 'WHOS ONLINE' as a display module and teacher 'WHOS ONLINE' etc
& student 'latest wall' teacher 'latest wall' etc or comments etc
Please enlighten.
Its a profile custom field. You can check for any profile .. In my case I write how to check these things while displaying in my wiki.

Hi Shyam,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the custom jomsocial hacks - they are actually "most wanted" - could you make an update for them. A jomsocial update is available now (Jomsocial 0.28)
Shyam, thanks for this hack. Question: is this functional for jomsocial 1.0.128?
ReplyDeletethanks!
Yes,
ReplyDeleteI have one site with this hack.
Contact me if you are getting any problems to apply.
By the way, the files uploaded were from 1.0.127 build, so use them for guideline, but do not use them.
- Shyam

Hi, can i see an example please of what it is exactly about the jomsocial profile types please??
ReplyDeleteHi Shyam, Nice hack. I just started on something similar this week then spotted your hack through a link in the JS forum. A few questions:
ReplyDelete1) Your hack seems to work by having different groups for different profile types. Therefore, for a student with the field, subject, they would have a field called subject under their group. And a teacher with field subject would have a similar field under the teacher group. Is my assumption correct?
2) I have started by creating a new table which stores a profiletype ID and then a new attribute for each custom field which allows that field to choose which profiletype to 'belong' to. I assume your frontend hack would work reasonably well still for this approach?
3) How can engage you for some JS services?
I can be reached at myxpozay at hotmail dot com. I am Singapore thus GMT +8 hours.
